Ex-Love Island star Dyer is accustomed to life in the spotlight after forging her own celebrity status through television appearances and as the daughter of former EastEnders actor Danny Dyer. Others have been thrust under that microscope, including the partners of many professional footballers.

Fryer, the childhood sweetheart of Arsenal midfielder Rice and mother to their son Jude, falls into that category. She never asked to be the focus of public attention and took to deleting her social media accounts in April 2024 after being subjected to sickening abuse from online trolls.

Dyer has spoken out in defence of her fellow England WAG, telling magazine: “I love Lauren. She’s just so nice and I feel like I’ve known her for years. We got to know each other as Declan played for West Ham, but definitely built more of a bond in Germany [during Euro 2024], because you spend so much time together.
“It was so hard for her, the trolling, as she doesn’t put herself out there. I think it’s harder when you are not in [the celebrity world] and you are being personally attacked. I found that hard. She is a really good mum, who keeps to herself. No one deserves to be criticised like that.”
DID YOU KNOW?
Dyer added on the online abuse that was aimed in Fryer’s direction: “It was so cruel. We didn’t speak about it a lot. What we did talk about is how she is so nice and so great and looks absolutely gorgeous. Plus, she’s Dec’s childhood sweetheart and you can see how much he adores her. So, attacking a girl because of what she looks like, in this day and age, I don’t agree with it. She got a lot of support from all of us, which she definitely needed, 100%.”
